Rainer Geschke - Conservator / Restorer


1990-2000

own pottery workshop, making wood fired stoneware in a two-chambered downdraft kiln. Construction of several wood firing kilns, national and international ceramic art exhibitions.

2000

Shutdown of workshop, removal to England to study 'The Conservation and Restoration of Ceramics and Related Materials' at West Dean College, Chichester.

since 2001

member of UKIC (United Kingdom Institute for the Conservation and Restoration of Historic and Artistic Works), 2005 restructured and renamed to ICON, The Institute of Conservation.

2002

Post Graduate Diploma, Pass with Distinction.

2002-2003

full time employment at Sarah Baker Restoration in London as a restorer for ceramics, glass and related materials. Contracts with reputable London auction houses and antique dealers such as Christies, Sotheby's, Bonham, Marchant, Jonathan Horne, Errol Manners, McPherson etc.

2003-2007

Full time employment at The British Museum in the position of a Conservator and (from 2005) Senior Conservator of Ceramics and Glass.

2007

Return to Germany. Establishing own workshop for Conservation/ Restoration of Ceramics, Glass and related Materials.
